Milton downs Stars for Classic title

    GREENVILLE – On a night where Muhlenberg North managed to hold Milton-Florida senior and University of Florida signee Adam Allen to 12 points, the Panthers’ LeDre Bender scored 18 to lead Milton to a 49-46 win over the host Stars on Saturday, December 23, to take first place in the 2nd annual George Taylor Classic.
    The loss was the first of the season for the Stars (7-1), who found themselves in a classic defensive battle with Milton (12-1).

Greenville native will premiere his hunting,
fishing show January 7

   
A former Greenville man will soon premiere his hunting and fishing show on Fox 7 television in Evansville, Ind.
    Brian Hancock, 32, lives in Owensboro and owns the show, “Three Tree Outdoors” and will host the outdoor show with Phillip Crabtree II and Chuck Mitchell. Hancock sold his Muhlenberg County farm to help finance the show, and sells duck calls with Crabtree through DOA Game Calls to help support the show.


Lady Stars fall to Pike Central 58-52

    LEXINGTON – Heather Mitchell and Whitney Gaston combined for 40 points, but Muhlenberg North dropped a tough 58-52 decision to Pike County Central on Thursday, December 21, at the Fifth/Third Prime Time Classic at Lexington Catholic High School.
    Pike Central held a slim 24-23 lead at the half, but outscored the Lady Stars 16-8 in the third quarter and held on for the win.


North tops Maroons in Taylor Classic opener

    GREENVILLE – Aaron Morris had 30 points, including a pair of clutch free throws in the waning seconds, as Muhlenberg North held on for a 67-63 win over Madisonville North Hopkins on Thursday, December 21, in the opening round of the George Taylor Classic at North High.

North honors Patrick Sparks

    GREENVILLE – Prior to the Muhlenberg North / Milton (Florida) basketball game on Saturday, December 23, in the George Taylor Classic, the MNHS Athletic Department paused to pay tribute to one of its finest - Patrick Sparks.
    It was an appropriate venue to honor Sparks, the great-grandson of legendary Central City Golden Tide coach George Taylor and son of current North head coach Steve Sparks.
