Diedrich leads South with five-3’s

    The Muhlenberg South Boys Basketball Team improved to 13-13 on senior night Feb. 16 against Webster County. The Suns played the first game of a boy-girl double header as they defeated the Trojans 55-50.
    South found themselves down 9-12 at the end of the first quarter but ended the half with a 23-22 advantage. The Suns held on to their one point lead through end of the third quarter before stretching their lead out to eight points late in the game.

Lady Suns fall to Franklin-Simpson

    The Lady Suns dropped their second straight game on Feb. 13 to fourth region power Franklin Simpson.  South fell at home, 63-39.
    Senior Kayla Engler led the Lady Suns with 15 points, aided by junior Macy Smith with 9 points.  The Lady Wildcats had four girls score in the double-digits, Cook with 15, Payne 12, Swisher 10, and Brown 10.

Harper’s Stars claim SAC

    OKLAHOMA CITY – Chalk up another championship in the remarkable coaching career of former Bremen and Muhlenberg County basketball great Ray Harper.
    Harper’s Oklahoma City University squad won the Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season men’s basketball title by edging Oklahoma Christian 75-70 on Saturday in the Backyard Brawl at Abe Lemons Arena. OCU, ranked second in NAIA Division I, moved to 28-0, 16-0 in the SAC.


Burton debuts in Kleenex Ford Fusion at Orbitz 300

Early-race accident foils strong Busch Series season-opener

    Daytona Beach, FL (February 17, 2007) … Ward Burton made his debut in the #27 Kleenex® Ford Fusion for Brewco Motorsports this weekend in the Orbitz 300 at the Daytona International Speedway. Unfortunately, Burton was an “innocent victim” in a lap 16 multi-car accident that resulted in a 32nd-place finish in the 2007 season-opener for the NASCAR Busch Series.
