Shannon Gayle Walker

    GREENVILLE – Shannon Gayle Walker, 35, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County April 8, 1971, she was a homemaker and a member of Richardson Chapel. She was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Williams and a sister, Hope Carbon.
    Survivors include her husband, Paul Walker; two sons, Aaron Barbre of Greenville and Nicholas Barbre of Central City; a daughter, Jennifer Waddell of Drakesboro; a grandson, John Waddell; her parents, Bobby and Donna Williams of Central City; a brother, Allen Williams of Central City; and her grandmother, Dorothy Barber of Drakesboro.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Revs. Jimmy Moore and T. H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in Peanut Cemetery in Drakesboro.



Billy Euin Smith

    DUNMOR – Billy Euin Smith, 70, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Silas and Helen Smith and had been employed at Pendley's Saw Mill. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harrell Smith and a sister, Shirley Dukes.
    Survivors include four daughters, Jannifer (Ronnie) Carver, Jean (Johnny) Mullen and Sheila (Tim) Sapp, all of Greenville and Beth Ann (Michael) Neighbors of Morgantown; six grandchildren, JoDonna Carver, Johnna Fox, Lacey Sapp, Isome Sapp, Brittany Carver and Leslee Higgs; three great-grandchildren, Audra Carver, Asher Carver and Cayden Fox; a brother, Bobby (Gay) Smith of Dunmor; and two sisters, Dean Jones of Russellville and Reba (Wayne) Shook of Lasscassas, Tenn.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 8 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Dukes officiating. Burial followed in Dunmor Cemetery in Dunmor.


Dorothy Ray Russell

    BROWDER – Dorothy Ray Russell, 83, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Greenville Sept. 25, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Furman and Carrie Etta Shutt Furman. She owned and operated Russell's Grocery for many years and was a member of Landmark Assembly of God Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer T. Russell, and three sisters, Sylvia Mayes, Jesse Welborn and Jenny Case.
    Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Sue Clemm of Browder; a sister, Nellie Kennedy of Greenville; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 9 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Yarbrough officiating. Burial followed in Skipworth Family Cemetery in Greenville.


Gladys Eardine Wells

    GREENVILLE – Gladys Eardine Wells, 77, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a short illness.    Born in Greenville Feb. 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William John Chapman and Eunice Lou Garrett Chapman. She was a homemaker, housewife and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Elton Wells in 1988 and a twin brother, Harold Eugene Chapman.
    Survivors include a son, Kenneth Gene Wells of Graham; two daughters, Peggy Abshire and Linda Wells, both of Greenville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 9 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial followed in Nebo Cemetery in Greenville.



Ora Elizabeth "Libby" Franklin

    NELSON CREEK – Ora Elizabeth "Libby" Franklin, 69, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Nelson Creek March 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe White and Nona Ree Bratcher White. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Franklin, Jr. in 1968, a sister, Carla McDonald and a brother, Carl White.
    Survivors include a son, Tony Franklin of Kimberly, Ala.; three daughters, Jolene Muir of Dora, Ala., Lisa Sims of Warrior, Ala. and Dora Faulkner of Oneonta, Ala.; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Willis White of Central City and George White of Greenville.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 10 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Markus Hardison officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Edna Mae Bray

    Edna Mae Bray, 81, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born in Powderly Jan. 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Vollie and Flora Penrod. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Central City and Friendship Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Loney and Flora Evans and two brothers, Vollie Penrod, Jr. and Robert Penrod.
    Survivors include a son, Gene Bray of Rockford, Ill.; a daughter, Linda Jones of Glendale, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 10 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial followed in Cessna Cemetery in Powderly.



Herchel Boyce Mathis

    GREENVILLE – Herchel Boyce Mathis, 80, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 8, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
    He was the son of the late Emmit Herchel and Carrie Mathis. He was drafted into World War II in 1945 at the age of 19. He never completed high school and in 2004, at the age of 78, received his Honorary High School Diploma. He was a retired farmer and machinist at TVA Paradise in Drakesboro. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a member of Mercer Baptist Church, where he loved to sing in the choir. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Boyce Jr. and Gordon Ray, a brother, Jerry Mathis and a sister, Vera Mathis Whitehouse.
    Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Eva Webster Mathis; four sons, Bobby (Brenda) Mathis of Louisville, Billy Wayne Mathis of Central City, Boyd (Donna) Mathis and Billy Ray (Kellie) Mathis, both of Greenville; three daughters, Becky (Tim) Gray and Romona (Sonny) Fuller, both of Greenville and Gladys (Glen) Ward of Central City; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. March 10 at Mercer Baptist Church in Powderly. Burial followed in Webster Cemetery in Butler County. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Paul Wayne Mefford

    BEECH CREEK – Paul Wayne Mefford, 60, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 29, 1947, he was a security guard and a member of Baugh Station in Logan County.
    Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Ford of Princeton; two grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Mefford of Central City, Neal Mefford of Drakesboro and Roger Mefford of Greenville; and a sister, Jean Stanley of Drakesboro.
    Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. March 9 at Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro with the Rev. Darren Pentecost officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Annie Mae Groves

    GRAHAM – Annie Mae Groves, 68, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Depoy Nov. 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Eura Groves and Anna Jane Stanley Groves. She was a homemaker and attended the Rainbow Light Tabernacle Church in Graham. She was preceded in death by two brothers, W. G. "Dee" Groves and Roy Groves, two nephews, Gary Dale Groves and Troy Wayne Groves.
    Survivors include five brothers, Gary Groves of Luzerne, Daniel Groves of Madisonville and the Rev. S. T. Groves, Gerald Groves and Archie Groves, all of Graham; eight nieces; two nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. March 10 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Skipworth officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Depoy.



Sylma Nell Willie Creamer

    HOPKINSVILLE – Sylma Nell Willie Creamer, 69, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in Todd County March 3, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Robert Jackson Willis and Sibyl Lack Willis. She was retired as a seamstress from Elk Brand Manufacturing and had also worked at U.S. Tobacco in Hopkinsville. She was a member of South Union Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert James Willis and John Glendal Willis.
    Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Charles R. "Bobby" Creamer of Hopkinsville; three sons, Charles Michael "Mike" Creamer of Clarksville, John Phillip Creamer of Sedalia, Mo. and David Wayne Creamer of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Delbert Jackson Willis of Tampa, Fla. and Jimmy Darrel Willis of Drakesboro; and nine grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. March 13 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Kinnith Morris officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville.



Ethel Dennis Hambleton

    OWENSBORO – Ethel Dennis Hambleton, 97, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born on a farm outside Paradise, Ky. Jan. 8, 1910, she was the daughter of the late William and Lena Kirtley Dennis. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and had retired from the Daviess County School System as a custodian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hambleton, two sisters, Eula Mae Dennis and Cora Lee Powell and a brother, Raymond Dennis.
    Survivors include a nephew, Kenny Mayhugh of Nelson Creek; two sisters, Laura Mayhugh of Nelson Creek and Marguerite Melheart of Louisville; and several other nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 12 at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Building Fund, Bellevue Baptist Church, 519 W. Byers Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42303.



George David "Jeeper" White

    GREENVILLE – George David "Jeeper" White, 77, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Nonie White. He was a carpenter, of the Baptist faith and was a United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Rose, a grandson, Wade Barnett, a brother, Carl White and two sisters, Carlann McDonald and Libby Franklin.
    Survivors include three sons, Steve White and Jimmy White, both of Greenville and Ronald White of Paducah; two daughters, Diane Hobgood of Central City and Donna Catt of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill White of Central City.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 13 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed in Echols Cemetery in Ohio County.
