County will keep animal shelter afloat this month By RITA DUKES
Leader-News Editor editor@ky-leadernews.com GREENVILLE — The Humane Society of Muhlenberg County has a reprieve from its dire financial emergency for at least another month. Muhlenberg Fiscal Court voted in its regular March 22 meeting to give the animal shelter $5,200 this month for expenses to keep the shelter open. Man dies in mobile home fire A Muhlenberg County man was killed after a fire started in the kitchen of his trailer March 20 on Kentucky 171 just south of Greenville. Chad L. Ebling, 31, died from probable smoke inhalation according to a Kentucky State Police report. Sheriff busts couple for meth Muhlenberg County Sheriff Eddie Perry recently charged a Dunmor couple with manufacturing methamphetamines in their barn. Perry said he received an anonymous phone call about possible methamphetamine manufacturing at 85 East Elm Street in Dunmor March 3. Man arrested for
not registering as sex offender in Muhlenberg Two arrested in Powderly for manufacturing methamphetamines A Powderly man was arrested after Powderly Police Chief Wade Griggs noticed an odor coming from his residence that smelled of methamphetamine March 6. Douglas K. Edwards, 516 Hillside Rd., was taken into custody after ingredients and compounds to make methamphetamine were found at his home, according to a Powderly Police Department report. CCPD MAKES EARLY MORNING ARREST
Central City Police Officer Jerry Beck and CCPD Detective Steve Casey put Christopher P. Mackey, 20, into a CCPD cruiser around 9:45 a.m. March 22. After a call-in on a suspicious vehicle, officers responded to lower Broad Street and approached Mackey, who became combative prompting officers to deploy Taser units to restrain him. Mackey was charged with fourth-degree assault domestic, second-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, alcohol intoxication and disorderly conduct.
