W. Tommy Erwin

    DRAKESBORO – W. Tommy Erwin, 64, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro.
    Born in McLean County April 27, 1942, he was a retired carpenter and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He served in the military from 1960 to 1963.
    Survivors include his wife, Viola Davis Erwin; three sons, Robert Erwin of Pasadena, Md., Troy Erwin of Beechmont and Todd Erwin of Belton; five grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Erwin of Brandenburg and Bobby Erwin of Beechmont; and five sisters, Betty Embry, Pat Drake, Shirley Morris, Carolyn Erwin and Sharon Erwin, all of Central City.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 6 at the Church of God of Prophecy. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Halliane Williams Settle

    GREENVILLE – Halliane Williams Settle, 82, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Depoy June 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Williams and Sadie Elizabeth Wells Williams. She was a housewife, homemaker and a member of Woodland Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville. She retired from Muhlenberg Community Hospital in 1998 after 29 years as a cook. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Willie Clyde Settle, Sept. 17, 2002; a son Jerry Wayne Settle; a daughter, Joyce Ann McDonald; a granddaughter, Tracey Stanley; and a grandson, James Emmett Felts.
    Survivors include a daughter, Delta Felts of Bowling Green; two sons, Roger Dale Settle and Eddy Dean Settle, both of Greenville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m April 6 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Revs. E. W. Greenwalt and Thomas Webb officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Church Cemetery in Greenville.


Greenberry Turner

    CLIFTY – Greenberry Turner, 64, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at his residence of natural causes.
    Born in Canoe, Ky., he was the son of the late Willie D. and Fannie Mae Turner. He was a farmer, member of the Kentucky Cattlemen's Association and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Clifty. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy, Hargis, Sam and Jessie Turner and two sisters, Hannie Bell Laster and Nannie Sebastain.
    Survivors include a son, Patrick Turner of Clifty; two daughters, Donna Voss of Hainesville, Ill. and Sherry Molog of Lexington; two sisters, Mabel Ford and Katherine England, both of Louisville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. April 5 at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. Neil Immel officiating.  Burial followed in Slaughters Cemetery in Clifty. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to New Hope Baptist Church, c/o Rev. Neil Immel, 2787 Greenville Rd., Elkton, KY.


Charles Edwin Doss

    MADISONVILLE – Charles Edwin Doss, 81, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 23, 1925, he was a retired laborer for Tennessee Valley Authority and was of the General Baptist faith.
    Survivors include his wife, Helen McElwain Doss; two sons, Bobby Blake of Madisonville and Thomas Blake of Beechmont; a daughter, Rebecca Jarvis of Nortonville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 5 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. George Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Slaughters Cemetery in Clifty. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Green River Hospice, 109 S. 2nd St., Central City, KY 42330.


John Nolan Davis

    EVANSVILLE – John Nolan Davis, 76, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County June 20, 1930, he was retired from Alcoa and was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
    Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis; his mother, Edra M. Davis; three sons, Darrel Davis of Atlanta, Ronald G. Davis and Denzil Davis, both of Evansville; a brothers, William L. Davis of Central City; three sisters, Virginia Shelton of Owensboro, Rosie London of Madisonville and Jean Turner of Ennis; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 7 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon with the Rev. Bobby McClain officiating. Burial followed in King Cemetery in Liberty.


Coloretta Lou Buchanan

    ELKTON – Coloretta Lou Buchanan, 56, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
    Born in Buckhannon, W. Va. Feb. 21, 1951, she was a homemaker and former employee of Flynn in Elkton.
    Survivors include her husband, James Buchanan; four sons, Timothy Buchanan, Bryan Buchanan, John Buchanan and Jason Buchanan, all of Elkton; seven grandchildren; her mother, Hazle Cole of Ohio; three brothers, John Cole, Jim Cole and Bill Cole, all of Ohio; and two sisters, Roberta Futrell and Ilene Cobb, both of Ohio.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. April 6 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Penrod.


Leonard "Papaw Buddy" Gunterman

    BREMEN – Leonard "Papaw Buddy" Gunterman, 77, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Maple Manor Rest Home in Greenville.
    Born in McLean County Oct. 5, 1929, he was the son of the late Gertrude Cummings Gunterman and Elmer Gunterman. He was retired from housekeeping and maintenance at Muhlenberg Community Hospital and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Keith E. Miller and a brother-in-law, Hanes Miller.
    Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Gunterman; a son, Leonard John Gunterman of Louisiana; two daughters, Kim Persinger of Evansville and Sherry Jo Williams of Newburgh; four step-sons, Bob (Debbie) Morris of Bremen, Billy (Rose) Morris and Terry (Denise) Morris, both of Madisonville and Doug (Amy) Morris of Brunswick, Ga.; a step-daughter, Peggy Miller of Bremen; and a sister, Doretta Miller of Livermore.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen.


Wilbur Roland Buchanan

    GREENVILLE – Wilbur Roland Buchanan, 89, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a short illness.
    Born in Beech Creek July 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Pearly Buchanan and Gertrude Revo Buchanan. He worked for Caney Creek Coal Company for 20 years and retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1983 after 20 years as a mail carrier. He was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ramage Buchanan, Sept. 10, 2001.
    Survivors include a son, Jimmy Wayne Buchanan of Lewisburg; a daughter, Joanna Fitzpatrick of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. April 6 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.


Pamela Ann Moore Reed

    Pamela Ann Moore Reed, 49, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville.
    Born in Daviess County Aug. 5, 1957, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Daniel Rector.
    Survivors include her father, Owen Moore of Belton; two sisters, Vanessa Moore and Carolyn Harris, both of Central City; a half-brother, Roger Hammers of Dixon; and a half-sister, Gayle Adams of Bowling Green.
    Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. April 7 at Forest Grove Cemetery in Browder with the Rev. Greg Brooks officiating.


Mary Carman Brown

    Mary Carman Brown, 74, went to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, April 5, 2007.
    Born in Hancock County Feb. 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Myrtle Morgan House. She was employed by General Electric in Tell City, Ind. for 16 years and retired from the restaurant business after 24 years. She was a member of the Boling Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Green River Chapel Baptist Church in Central City for 11 years. She loved going to church and was a great fan of gospel music. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was an animal lover. She was preceded in death by a half-sister, Susie House Butler, and a niece and nephew.
    Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Tom Brown of Central City; two daughters, Shielda Rutledge of Madisonville and Debra (Ron) Lear of Central City, who were her caregivers during her illness; two grandchildren, Carrie Dutton and Vernon LaRoche; two great-grandchildren; an aunt, Delphia House; and a niece and a nephew.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. April 10 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jewel Martin officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Green River Chapel Church.


Charles W. Rich

    SACRAMENTO – Charles W. Rich, 90, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
    He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Europe during WWII. He was a member of McLean County American Legion Post 64 and a member of Bricklayers Union Local #4 of IN/KY for more than 50 years. He retired from Inland Steel Co. in East Chicago, Ind. in 1978 after 31 years of service. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed life to the fullest. His favorite past-times were fishing Kentucky Lake in the spring and quail hunting in the fall. He was lucky enough to spend a few years hunting with his son, Keith and grandson, Chris, creating memories that will last a lifetime for them. He and his wife also enjoyed their many trips out west with his cousin, John (Edith) Rich. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Claudia Rich.
    Survivors include his son, Keith (Milly) Rich of Crown Point, Ind.; a sister, Mary Elizabith "Libby" (Bob) Head of Owensboro; a brother, Raymond of Sacramento; three grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Cox of El Centre, Calif., Christopher (Kim) Rich and Bonnie (David) Cirak, both of Crown Point; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous loving cousins and friends.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 10 at Tucker Memorial Chapel with long time friend, the Rev. Thurman Harris officiating. Burial followed in Free Union Cemetery in Sacramento.


Floyd Rhoades

    Floyd Rhoades, 90, died Sunday, March 8, 2007 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County March 25, 1917, he was a retired mechanic from Moloney Electric Company in St. Louis, Mo. He was a United States Army veteran.
    Survivors include a son, James Michael Rhoades of St. Peters, Mo.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Deering of Central City.
    Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. April 10 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City with the Rev. Jewell Martin officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Bobby Joe Cobb

    Bobby Joe Cobb, 56, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at his residence in Central City.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 10, 1951, he was  self-employed in backhoe and dozer construction and was a member of the Apostolic Church in Central City.
    Survivors include his wife, Karen Yonts Cobb of Central City; two daughters, Kellie Cobb and Quin Dee Scarbrough, both of Central City; two brothers, Billy Cobb of Madisonville and David Cobb of Arizona; and a sister, Edith Mae Groves of Grand Rivers.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. April 12 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Depoy. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. April 11 at the funeral home.
