Wells signs with Campbellsville
Muhlenberg North’s Scotty Wells signed a national letter of intent
to play football for Campbellsville University where he was awarded a
football scholarship. Brad Divine, North athletic director and head football
coach Shane Sams along with Scotty’s dad, Paul Wells and his sister Morgan
were present at the signing. “Scotty is a great athlete. He really only
played one year of high school football, so to achieve a scholarship is
a testament to his talent and athletic ability. He has all the tools to
succeed at the next level,” said coach Shane Sams. Campbellsville University
head coach Jim Denton said, “Campbellsville University is pleased to have
a student-athlete of Scotty’s caliber joining our program. He is one of
our top recruits. We plan on using Scotty at the wide receiver position,
where we feel he has the potential to make an immediate contribution.
We are excited about Scotty’s future as a student-athlete at Campbellsville
University.” (Photo provided)
South’s Poore sets, breaks school record
The Muhlenberg South track and field team competed
in the Logan County all comers meet April 12.
Two new school records were set, as sophomore Aaron
Poore ran a 10:00.74 time in the 3200 meter run as he finished first in
this event and lapped the field on the track, as he set the school record
in this event. Under 10:00 minutes is the standard in which high school
boys try to achieve in the 3200 meter run and Poore being a sophomore
has an excellent chance of running in the range of 9:30 or better over
the rest of his career. Poore ran the first mile in 5:06 and completed
the second mile in an amazinig 4:54 a negative split in running terms.
