Flora Elizabeth Anderson

    GREENVILLE – Flora Elizabeth Anderson, 97, died Monday, April 16, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville following a sudden illness.
    Born in McNary, Ky. June 25, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Wilcox and Mamie Dukes Wilcox. She was a member of Sharon General Baptist Church in Greenville and sold monuments for Wells Monument Company in Madisonville for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Guy Anderson in 1963, three sisters, Virginia Wilcox Flowers in 1948, Lucy Mae Wilcox Miller in 1970 and Helen Wilcox Mansfield in 2005, and a brother, C. W. Wilcox in 2004.
    Survivors include two nieces, Judy (the Rev. Charlie) Burris of Louisville and Wilodean (LeRoy) Marler of Griffith, Ind; two nephews, Gary (Darlene) Flowers of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Larry (Martha) Miller of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Bea Wilcox of Louisville; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 19 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Revs. Charlie Burris, Tony Evitts and Larry Shadowen officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.



Emogene Edge Rearden

    GREENVILLE – Emogene Edge Rearden, 73, died Monday, April 16, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro.
    Born in Ohio County, she was a homemaker and a member of Beech Valley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence William Rearden March 11, 2001.
    Survivors include a son, Larry (Robin) Rearden of San Pierre, Ind.; three daughters, Brenda (Brad) Craig of North Judson, Ind., Sandy (Anthony) Tong of Hartford and Karen (Greg) Ekstam of Greenville; four brothers, James Edge and Homer Edge, both of Reynolds Station; Denzil Edge of Louisville and Irvin Edge of Central City; two sisters, Mary Smith of Fordsville and Margaret Jarboe of Whitesville; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 19 at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial followed in Patterson Cemetery in Hartford.


Ruthie M. Deason Terry

    Ruthie M. Deason Terry, 92, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
    Born in Graham Oct. 18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Siegel S. and Maude Stanley. She and her first husband, Clifford Deason, owned and operated the Apple House Market in Central City for 25 years. She was a member of Mount Sion Assembly in Central City. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Deason, her second husband, John Terry, two sisters and three brothers.
    Survivors include two sons, Forest (Theda) Deason and Jerry (Lavonda) Deason, both of Central City; two daughters, Helen Brand and Ruth (Ronald) Higgs, both of Central City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
    Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. April 20 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Troy Allen Pope

    GREENVILLE – Troy Allen Pope, 30, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County April 5, 1977, he was a machinist and was of the Baptist faith.
    Survivors include his wife, Laura; two daughters, Haley Pope of South Carrollton and Elizabeth Pope of Greenville; a step-son, Westyn Armour of Greenville; his parents, Stan and Connie Pope of Greenville; a sister, Misty Vester of Carlisle, Ind.; and a grandmother, Gladys Conway of Greenville.
    Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. April 19 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Haley and Elizabeth Pope Memorial Fund, c/o David Conway, 506 Massey Dr., Central City, KY 42330.


Larry Wayne Casebier

    BROWDER – Larry Wayne Casebier, 49, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 30, 1957, he was disabled.
    Survivors include a son, Joshua Casebier of Browder; a daughter, Jaime Hagy of Greenville; two grandchildren; his companion, Denise Arndell; a brother, Johnie Casebier of Browder; a sister, Hilda C. Hammers of Browder; and his father, Nolan Casebier of Browder.
    Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Robert W. Shanks

    BREMEN – Robert W. Shanks, 67, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County May 19, 1939, he was a self-employed logger and of the Pentecostal faith.
    Survivors include his wife, Betty Gregory; a son, Robbie Lynn Shanks of Bremen; four daughters, Kathy Keeling, Lisa Vincent, Angela Vincent and Jennifer Beth Hoeft, all of Bremen; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Lara Bell Shanks of Bremen; and a brother, Junior Shanks of Central City.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 21 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Revs. Danny Greene and Tony Shanks officiating. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery in South Carrollton.


Fannie Sharon Hight

    WHITE PLAINS – Fannie Sharon Hight, 59, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in Hopkins County Aug. 13, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Brandon and Lora Lacy. She was a homemaker and was an active member of White Plains Methodist Church.
    Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Curtis Ray Hight; a daughter, DeeDee Bivins of Greenville; a son, Ricky Hight of Madisonville; a son, Tony Hight of White Plains; like a son, Jeff Cobb of White Plains; six grandchildren; a sister, Fairy Hardy of Cerulean; three brothers, Gary Lacy of Nortonville, Charles Lacy of St. Charles and Prentuth Lacy of Hartford.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 21 at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with the Revs. J. D. Graddy and Shane Browning officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in White Plains.


Evelyn Duff Kiper

    POWDERLY – Evelyn Duff Kiper, 93, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 18, 1913, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marshall "Buck" Kiper.
    Survivors include two sons, Jack Kiper of White Plains and Jimmy Kiper of Indiana and four grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Revs. T. H. Davis and Clifford Lovell officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Gladys G. Laster

    POWDERLY – Gladys G. Laster, 78, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in McLean County Nov. 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Att Middleton and Ercie Jane Middleton. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Laster Oct. 18, 1998.
    Survivors include three daughters, Susan DePue of Cleveland, Tenn., Peggy Williams of Henderson and Donna Parson of Evansville; a son, Jerry Johnson of Russellville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Sue Orta, Louise Luckett and Peggy Parrieons, all of Evansville; and a brother, Jimmie Middleton of Evansville.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 23 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Fitzhugh officiating. Burial followed in Carter Creek Cemetery in Greenville.


Suda Belle Johnson

    GREENVILLE – Suda Belle Johnson, 84, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Muhlenberg County June 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Willis Earl Shutt and Eva Mae Roberts Shutt. She was a homemaker and a member of New Paradise Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Eugene Johnson March 2, 1986.
    Survivors include a son, Ken Johnson of Greenville; a sister, Susie McRoy of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 24 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adcock officiating. Burial followed in Carter Creek Cemetery in Greenville.


William L. Renfrow

    William L. Renfrow, 83, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 20, 1923, he was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 34 years as a conductor. He was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church and a World War II veteran.
    Survivors include two sons, Dwight Edward "Eddie" Renfrow of Hillsboro, Tenn. and Thomas Daniel "Danny" Renfrow of Central City; a brother, Donald Renfrow of Central City; and three sisters, Nellie Goff of Evansville, Leveda Uzzle of Fulton and Norma Gamblin of Crest City, Fla.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. April 25 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

   
Roger Dale Mefford, Sr.

    GREENVILLE – Roger Dale Mefford, Sr., 57, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro.
    Born in Muhlenberg County July 2, 1949, he was disabled.
    Survivors include two sons, Michael Mefford and Roger Dale Mefford, Jr., both of Greenville; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Mefford of Central City and Neil Mefford of Ebenezer; and a sister, Jean Stanley of Drakesboro.
    Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. April 25 at Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
