Virginia P. Winnicki

    WHEELING, ILL. – Virginia P. Winnicki, 81, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Lexington of Wheeling.
    Born in Central City April 30, 1925, she preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Winnicki.
    Survivors include a son, Richard Winnicki; two daughters, Pat O'Neill and Dorothy Zumparelli; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 2 at St. Theresa Church in Palatine. Burial followed in Maryhill Cemetery. Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights, Ill. was in charge of arrangements.



Joyce Marie Sargent

    HOPKINSVILLE – Joyce Marie Sargent, 56, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in Hamilton, Ohio April 3, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Hatton Trent and Walter Trent. She was a self-employed housekeeper and a member of Orange Grove General Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Terry Sargent; a son, Terry R. Sargent, Sr. of Pembroke; two daughters, Sheila Baxter of Crofton and Rachel Cook of Christian County; a brother, Walter Trent, Jr. of Eaton, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 3 at Lamb Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with the Rev. Tim Baxter officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Memorials may be sent to Pennyroyal Hospice, 101 West 18th Street, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.


Harold Baugh

    DUNMOR – Harold Baugh, 85, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
    Born in Logan County Nov. 12, 1921, he was the son of the late H.O. Baugh and Jo Ann Fitzhugh Baugh. He was a retired mail carrier, retired from the United States Air Force and a member of Dunmor Baptist Church.
    Survivors include a nephew, Gaylen Baugh of Russellville; a niece, Connie Hardison of Lewisburg; a sister-in-law, Ilene Baugh of Dunmor; and out-of-town nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 4 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewisburg with the Rev. Roger Skipworth officiating. Burial followed in Dumor Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.


Christine Havener Godby

    OWENSBORO – Christine Havener Godby died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in Greenville to the late Raymond and Bessie Martin Lear, she retired from General Electric Company and M.P.D. and was a member of Wing Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Bivins.
    Survivors include a son, Jimmie Havener of Owensboro; a daughter, Judy Nelson of Owensboro; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Lear of Greenville; and two sisters, Maybelle Koger of Owensboro and Janice Richards of Port St. Lucie, Fla.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 4 at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial followed in Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice & Palliative Care, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.


Levi Waylon Woodson English

    DRAKESBORO – Levi Waylon Woodson English, infant, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Survivors include his mother, Sara Jane Harrison of Drakesboro; his father, Harold Wayne English, Jr. of Drakesboro; grandparents, Jimmy and Terry Sue Harrison of Powderly, Mary and Jerry Shaw and Harold Wayne English, Sr., all of Drakesboro, and Darlene Donahoo of Baltimore, Md.; great-grandparents, Beverly and Walter Garrett of Drakesboro, Gaela and Kenny Harrison of Belton, John and Brinda Bishop of South Carrollton and Bobby Jernigan of Owensboro; two aunts, Mindy Harrison and Dawn English; two uncles, Dereck English and Brent Harrison; and two step-uncles, Jonathan Jones and Alton Jones.
    Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. May 3 at Graham Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Brooks officiating.


Everrette E. Hamm

    GREENVILLE – Everrette E. Hamm, 82, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born in Scott County, Ill. Feb. 27, 1925, he was a World War II veteran.
    Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rekar Hamm; two sons, Everrette Hamm, Jr. and James Hamm, both of Greenville; four daughters, Dorothy Jean Gray of Central City, Loretta Tongate of Concord, Ill., Carol Turner of Alexander, Ill. and Cathy Fleming of Missouri; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Danny Hamm and David Hamm, both of Sebastion, Fla. and Bobby Hamm of Mundelein, Ill.; and a sister, Cathy Brown of Sebastion, Fla.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 4 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Powderly.


J.C. Goodman

    GREENVILLE – J.C. Goodman, 63, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County July 7, 1943, he was a disabled truck driver and a Vietnam veteran.
    Survivors include his wife, Linda Robinson Goodman; two sons, Jayson Goodman of Greenville and Tyler Goodman of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; two daughters, Pamela Hyndman and Jaymie Aull, both of Evansville; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Glendal Goodman and Charles Goodman of Central City; and a sister, Wanetta Gries of Munster, Ind.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 5 at Tucker Funeral Home with Larry Goodman officiating.


Nina Pearl Shrull

    DUNMOR – Nina Pearl Shrull, 91, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Hopkins Nursing Care in Woodburn, Ky.
    Born Dec. 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George Raymond Grayson and Maude May Gaston Grayson. She was a homemaker and a member of Dunmor Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Chester Shrull and a son, Gary Shrull.
    Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Addison of Henderson and Myrna Mallory of Owensboro; a son, Lendell Shrull of Franklin; four brothers, Maurice Grayson of Hopkinsville, Herald Grayson of Huntsville, Neal Grayson of Russellville and Wayne Grayson of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 6 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewsiburg with Tim Waggoner and Bill Goad officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Moriah Church of Christ Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.


Joyce Ann Arnold

    BEECHMONT – Joyce Ann Arnold, 67, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
    Born in Chatooga County, Trion, Ga. March 20, 1940, she was a retired school bus driver for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education and a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church in Belton.
    Survivors include a daughter, Kim Arnold of Bowling Green; a son, Chris Arnold of Beechmont; and a brother, Charles Clark of Oxford, Ga.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 7 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Chaney officiating. Burial followed in Hazel Creek Cemetery in Belton.


Rev. Charles Edward Davis

    MIAMISBURG, OHIO – The Rev. Charles Edward Davis, 84, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County, he was the son of the late Lauden and Mae Davis. He was retired from Chrysler and he pastored churches for 40 years, including Dayton First Church of General Baptist and East Alton General Baptist Church in Mattoon, Ill. The last 13 years of his ministry was with the Wayside Chapel Independent Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Lee Davis; three brothers, Lee, Jack, Kenneth; and a sister, Marjorie Riber.
    Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Clara Christine; two sons, Stephen of Dallas, Tex. and Lynn (Brenda) of Centerville, Ohio; a daughter, Minta (Terry) Hopson of Germantown, Ohio; two brothers, Bob and Carl Davis; a sister, Dorotha Rowland; grandchildren, Heather (Rick) Baarlaer, Eric (Patty) Davis, Darlene (Vince) Kirkpatrick, Tess (Tommy) Thompson; great-grandsons, Brandon, Devon and Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 8 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory in Kettering, Ohio with the Rev. Steve McElvain officiating. Burial followed in Hillgrove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.


Nellie Dukes Hope

    OWENSBORO – Nellie Dukes Hope, 94, died Friday, May 4, 2007 in the Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro following a short illness.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 17, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Issac Roy Jones and Charity Floyd Richmond Jones. She was a housewife and homemaker and was a member of Lone Star General Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Dukes; second husband, Henry Ellis Hope; three brothers, Theodore Jones, Rollo Jones and Walton Jones; and a sister, Oca Hill.
    Survivors include two sons, Terry Dukes of Philpot and Billy Dukes of Madisonville; two step-daughters, Margie Jones of Greenville and Joyce Cook of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-granddaughter; and five sisters, Audrey Odell Ellsworth of Mishawaka, Ind., Virginia Jones of Central City, Erlene Melhiser of Owensboro, Hilda Rice of Greenville and Betty Johnson of Hopkinsville.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 7 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Shanks officiating. Burial followed in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir.


Jo Nell Putman

    GREENVILLE – Jo Nell Putman, 77, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Botsford Hospital in Redford, Mich.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 20, 1929, she was a homemaker.
    Survivors include three brothers, Bobby Kinkade of Bensonville, Ill., Mitchell Kinkade of Greenville and Jimmy Kinkade of Columbus, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Mitchell and Brenda Sue Rolley, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at noon May 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Drury officiating. Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery in Central City.


Dorothy McRee Stringer

    Dorothy McRee Stringer, 89, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at her residence in Central City.
    Born in Central City Oct. 3, 1917, she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Stringer, in 1993.
    Survivors include a son, John McRee (Anna) Stringer of Bowling Green; two daughters, Patricia Lear of Central City and Diane (Jerry) Mayes of Owensboro; seven grandchildren, Dianna (Scott) Ray, Tracy (Tom) Eades, Kevin (Gina) Mayes, Keith Mayes, John Joseph (Heather) Stringer, Jamie (Randy) Stathers and Ceara Stringer; and seven great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 9 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery and Dr. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Clara Lois Hutchings

    Clara Lois Hutchings, 74, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 21, 1932, she was a retired factory worker from General Electric in Owensboro and a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.
    Survivors include eight grandchildren, Crystal, Peter, Diana, Billy, Kathy, Carl, Joseph and David; and several cousins.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 9 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central City.
