Billy Franklin Williams

    COLUMBUS, OHIO – Billy Franklin Williams, 57, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
    Born June 9, 1949, he was the son of the late W.M. Williams, Jr. and Virginia "Jean" Williams of Central City, KY.
    Survivors include six children, David Williams, Michelle Serrano, Allison Williams and Joel Williams, all of Nashville, Jonathan Williams of Atlanta, Ga. and Amy Williams of Germany; four grandchildren; two brothers, Ron Williams of N.C. and Steve Williams of S.C.; two sisters, Mary R. Williams of S.C. and Debbie Dalton of Owensboro; and
several aunts and uncles, including Tony Epley of Central City.
    Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. May 26 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.




Ruby Nell Bruce Allen

    GREENVILLE – Ruby Nell Bruce Allen, 85, died Monday, May 7, 2007 in the Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Muhlenberg County June 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William Edgar Bruce and Luama Cobb Bruce. She was a housewife and homemaker and was a member of Duvall's Chapel General Baptist Church in Nebo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Edward Allen in 1953.
    Survivors include two sons, James (Bonnie) Allen of Hanson and Anthony (Carolyn) Allen of Greenville; four grandchildren, Johnny (Tammy) Allen, Belinda (John) Bass, the Rev. Chris (Chelsea) Allen and Alicia (Ken) Carver; and six great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Wesley, Laura, Allen, Carter and Cooper.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 10 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Revs. Chris Allen and John Bass officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.


Whayne Ann Crick Badgett

    MADISONVILLE – Whayne Ann Crick Badgett, 63, formerly of Greenville, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
    Born in Calhoun Aug. 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Elizabeth Muster Hile. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School and the University of Kentucky. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Greenville, was an artist and a former board member of the Muhlenberg County Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Crick June 20, 1989 and her second husband, J. Rodgers Badgett June 6, 2005.
    Survivors include two daughters, Cara (Kevin) Meadows of Hendersonville, Tenn. and Reagan (Kevin) Robertson of Destin, Fla.; a grandson, Kyle Meadows; a granddaughter, Claire Ann Robertson; and many dear friends.
    Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. May 9 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenville with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Entombment will be in the Crick Family Mausoleum. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Muster Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 160, Calhoun, KY 42327. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.


Edmund Wayne Snyder


    OKEECHOBEE, FLA. – Edmund Wayne Syder, 58, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 26, 1948, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Bessie Model Snyder. He was a technician at Gilbert Chevrolet for 18 years. He moved  to Okeechobee from Greenville in 1988, where he was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Bolton Snyder; a son, Richard Bolton of Beechmont; three daughters,  Deanna Cheney of Okeechobee, Kim Snyder of Bremen and Angie Snyder of Horse Cave; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Jimmy (Betty) Snyder of Greenville.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 12 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Vincent officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Greenville.


William J. "Joe" Groves

    CLEATON – William J. "Joe" Groves, 74, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Reuben and Lutie Gray Groves. He was a saw mill employee and of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by a son, William "Buddy" Groves; three brothers, Floyd, Oather and Jewell Groves; a sister, Mary Wanda Keith; and a step-great-grandson, Keegan Layne Gregory.
    Survivors include his wife, Lorine Warner Groves; two sons, Joseph Don Groves of Drakesboro and Wayne Groves of Calhoun; two step-daughters, Debbie Bratcher of Drakesboro and Patricia McPherson of Central City; a step-son, Freeman "Buddy" Vincent of Evansville; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, two brothers, Lee Bryant Groves of Nortonville and Billy Wayne Groves of Greenville; a sister, Bonnie Mae Blake of Dawson Springs; and nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 11 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Revs. Glendal Hardison and Roy Loney officiating. Burial followed in Graham Cemetery.


Dorothea R. Wiles

    SHARON GROVE – Dorothea R. Wiles, 63, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at her daughter's residence of natural causes.
    Born in Macon County, Ill. Sept. 19, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Streich and Velma Meryman Streich Beccue. She was a homemaker, cosmotologist and bookkeeper for Frog Level Farms. She was a member of Sharon Grove Baptist Church Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wiles in 2001.
    Survivors include two sons, Robert Wiles and Michael Wiles, both of Sharon Grove; three daughters, Annette Smith of Greenville, Roberta Cherry of Scottsville and Janet Gorham of Paducah; a brother, Glen John Streich of Maroa, Ill.; a half-brother, Butch Beccue of Delavon, Ill.; two half-sisters, Jeanie Kassa of Mountain Home, Ark. and Carolyn Brown of Decatur, Ill.; an aunt, Eloise Wagner of Decatur, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 11 at Sharon Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Dukes and Roger Skipworth officiating. Burial followed in New Ebenezer Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home in Elkton was in charge of arrangements.


Martha Sandra Hocker

    GREENVILLE – Martha Sandra Hocker, 61, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at her residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County March 22, 1946, she was a homemaker and a member of F.O.E. and First Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Hocker.
    Survivors include a son, Tommy (Cheryl) Hocker of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, LaVonda Stevens of Belton and Sandra (Troy) Ritchie and Stephanie (Jr.) Duncan, both of Greenville; a brother, Lee (Susie) Blake of Lewisport; three sisters, Ann Blake of Ypsilantie, Mich., Donna Blake of Central City and Hilda Blake of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren, Allie Stevens, Cody Bolinger, Noah Ritchie, Dustin Bolinger, Stetson Duncan, Sarah Duncan, Toby McKinney and Seth Randolph.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 11 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.


Benny Ogden

    Benny Ogden, 87, of Central City, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Lincoln Hill Nursing Center in Tell City, Ind.
    Born in Oklahoma April 21, 1920, he was a retired coal miner and of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran.
    Survivors include a son, John Ogden of Tell City; two daughters, Martha Clark of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jeannie Givens of Louisville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at noon May 12 at Tucker Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Juanita June Hammers Hardison


    UTICA – Juanita June Hammers Hardison, 74, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health Systems in Owensboro.
    Born in Muhlenberg County June 20, 1932, she was retired from General Electric in Owensboro and was a member of Utica United Methodist Church in Utica.
    Survivors include her husband, Dolphus Hardison; and a son, Horace Hardison of Pasadena, Calif.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 12 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Kirtley officiating. Burial followed in Allen's Chapel Cemetery in Ennis.


Arvil C. Barnett

    LOUISVILLE – Arvil C. Barnett, 78, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Baptist Hospital East.
    A native of Adair County, he was a member of Bashford Manor Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estill and Flossie Scott Barnett; a grandson, Gregory C. Van Pelt; and two brothers, William and Earl Barnett.
    Survivors include his wife, Irene Gumm Barnett; two daughters, Charlotte Van Pelt and Lisa Halbleib; three brothers, Carlie, Clifford and Marshall Bennett; five sisters, Lois Cook, Rose Woodrum, Retha Burton, Janet Knifley and Shirley Rohers; and a grandson.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 12 at Highlands Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial followed in Cave Hill Cemetery.



Jessie Crick


    GREENVILLE – Jessie Crick, 93, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 15, 1913, he was the son of the late Ephram Crick and Louverna Crick. He was a farmer and a member of Olive Grove General Baptist Church in Greenville.
    Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Helen Louise Rice Crick; two sons, Bernie Crick and Harold Dean (Nancy) Crick, both of Greenville; a daughter, Anna Joe (Murvin) Chandler of Greenville; six grandchildren, Barbara (Melvin) Elkins, Doris Spellman, Troy (Angie) Crick, Brad (Anessa) Crick, Jessica Crick and Ryan Crick; and seven great-grandchildren, Brent Elkins, Michelle Crick, Crystal Elkins, Tyler Spellman, Sarah Crick, Jordan Spellman and Jamie Crick.
    Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. May 12 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Revs. J.W. Haire and Richard Day officiating. Burial followed in Olive Grove Cemetery.


Helen Louise Rice Crick

    GREENVILLE – Helen Louise Rice Crick, 83, died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of Mack Rice and Rosa King Rice. She was a homemaker and a member of Olive Grove General Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jessie Crick May 10, 2007 at 12:35 a.m.
    Survivors include two sons, Bernie Crick and Harold Dean (Nancy) Crick, both of Greenville; a daughter, Anna Joe (Murvin) Chandler of Greenville; six grandchildren, Barbara (Melvin) Elkins, Doris Spellman, Troy (Angie) Crick, Brad (Anessa) Crick, Jessica Crick and Ryan Crick; and seven great-grandchildren, Brent Elkins, Michelle Crick, Crystal Elkins, Tyler Spellman, Sarah Crick, Jordan Spellman and Jamie Crick.

Anna Lou Hill


    GREENVILLE – Anna Lou Hill, 83, died Thursday, May 10, 20007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following several months illness.
    Born in Christian County Oct. 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Arvin Grace and Edna Brewer Grace. She shared her birthday with her granddaughter, was a housewife and homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. She was co-owner and secretary of J.C. Hill Plumbing in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, J.C. Hill on July 8, 1984 and a brother, Arvin Grace, Jr. in 1992.
    Survivors include a daughter, Janice DeLawson of Greenville; a granddaughter, Shelli (Tim) Lile of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Lile and Tara Lile; a sister, Christine Carver of Greenville; a brother, Owen (Ila) Grace of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Pauleta Hill of Greenville and Helen Tuck of Evansville; a brother-in-law, Don Raymer of Smyrna, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 15 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary McAbee and George Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Greenville.


Margaret Mae Richardson


    GRAHAM – Margaret Mae Richardson, 85, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville following several months illness.
    Born in Depoy Dec. 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alexander "Sandy" Lorrison and Lela Gossett Lorrison. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of Corley Chapel General Baptist Church in Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Graham Richardson on Dec. 5, 1972 and a son, Wallace Glenn Richardson on Sept. 15, 1997.
    Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Serafin of Madisonville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Towe of Franklin; and a brother, Lindy Lorrison of LaPeer, Mich.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 15 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Kelly officiating. Burial followed in Graham Hill Cemetery in Graham.


Robert Welmoth Vinson


    GREENVILLE – Robert Welmoth Vinson, 81, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Muhlenberg County May 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Denzil Vinson and Lula Mae Thomason Vinson. He retired from LG&E power plant in Louisville in 1987 after 37 years and was a member of Graham Baptist Church in Graham. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Nell Vinson and a brother, G.B. Vinson.
    Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Helen Louise Woodburn Vinson; two sons, Bobby Wayne Vinson and David Austin Vinson, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
    Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. May 16 at Shaver's Chapel Cemetery in Bremen with the Revs. Todd King and Ron Matheney officiating. Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.


Paul D. Woodward


    MORGANTOWN – Paul D. Woodward, 60, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his residence.
    Born in Logan County, he was the son of the late Paul C. Woodward and Dorothy Lucille McCraw Woodward. He was a member of Belmont General Baptist Church and the superintendent of Asphalt Company Roadbuilders, Inc.
    Survivors include his wife, Linda Johnson Woodward; two sons, Brian Woodward and Brandon Embry, both of Morgantown; a daughter, Brooke Embry of Morgantown; five sisters, Barbara Duncan of Morgantown, Patricia Lashley, Brenda Powell and Peggy Shelton, all of Russellville, and Alice Woodward of Evansville; four brothers, Ray Woodward, Donnie Woodward and Stevie Woodward, all of Russellville, and Lewis Woodward of Greenville; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
        Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 16 at Jones Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at Belmont Cemetery.
