MSHS’s Earle signs with KWC

Muhlenberg South senior Will Earle signed a letter of intent to play college golf at Kentucky Wesleyan College May 17 at South High. Will is shown with his parents Terry and Jenny Earle and Muhlenberg South boys golf team coach Nathan Phelps. “Will has improved greatly over the past year and his success is evidence of what hard work, sacrifice, and dedication leads to,” Phelps said. Will has played golf for South High for the past four years but it was in his last season that he leaped from playing the fifth spot to the team’s number one player. Last summer Will played on the Kentucky Jr Pepsi Tour and was invited to participate in their Tournament of Champions reserved for the top golfers on the tour. Will finished the tournament in third after leading all golfers the first day of competition. His success carried over into the high school golf season as he won the Dawson Springs Invitational Tournament at Pennyrile State Park with an impressive 2-under par 70 and a memorable Double-Eagle from 235 yards away on a par 5. “It should be inspirational for all our young athletes to see what Will has accomplished. Here is a young man that dedicated his entire summer to getting better and that is exactly what happened. I expect the impact Will had on our team to last long after he goes to college and am thankful for everything he has brought to this program” said Phelps. (Leader-News Photo/Rita Dukes)
