County proposes spending coal severance funds for part of library expansion

    GREENVILLE — The Muhlenberg County Library Board is asking Muhlenberg County for $217,000 in coal severance funds for its newly-expanded Central City Library while the county needs at least that amount to put the finishing touches on the Merle Travis Performing Arts Center.


County fair begins June 5

    The largest single day horse pull in the nation will be June 9 at the Muhlenberg County Fair.
    Teams from throughout the nation will compete to win the Kentucky Draft Horse and Mule Classic on the last day of the fair at the Muhlenberg County Agriculture and Convention Center.


Relay for Life grand marshall ‘living full life’ with cancer

    For Jeremy Woodall of Midland, life is not about curing his cancer, but rather about living a full life with it.
    The 20-year-old was diagnosed with a brain tumor only two months after graduating from Muhlenberg North High School in 2004.

Drakesboro man dies in car crash

    A Drakesboro man was killed in an early morning car accident June 3 on Highway 431 five miles north of South Carrollton.
    Justin Ryan Pruden, 19, of Drakesboro was driving southbound about 5:10 a.m. when his vehicle exited the roadway and overturned several times before coming to a final rest after striking a tree, according to a Kentucky State Police report.
