Yonts’ attorneys say
new evidence warrants appeal By SAMANTHA CARVER
Leader-News Staff Writer reporter@ky-leadernews.com Attorneys for Harrison Yonts have filed a motion to appeal his murder conviction based upon new evidence that indicates another party may have been involved in the death of Nadia Shaheen Nov. 11, 2005. According to the appeal, “the newly discovered evidence consists of testimony and forensic evidence that shows that in addition to (Yonts’) vehicle, another vehicle owned and operated by someone other than the defendant” struck Shaheen.

Local leaders urge state incentives for coal-to-fuel plants By RITA DUKES
Leader-News Editor editor@ky-leadernews.com Local business leaders are taking a stance in support of giving incentives to bring a coal-to-fuel conversion facility to the state with a special nod toward Muhlenberg County. The board of directors of the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce pinned a letter Friday to Gov. Ernie Fletcher, Sen. President David Williams, Speaker of the House Jody Richards and the members of the General Assembly.
