Seven juveniles and one adult are suspected in a fight that broke out on Monday night near Greenville Elementary School, according to Greenville Police Public Information Officer Wes Miller. A male juvenile was sent via ambulance to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville for treatment to injuries he sustained in the fight.

The two groups met with the intention to fight and all will be charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, including the victim, Miller said.

Two male and one female involved will be charged with second-degree assault.

A warrant has been issued for the adult male involved, but he has not yet been apprehended, Miller said.

Miller said interviews with those involved revealed that the fight, which occurred around 8 p.m. April 13, was over a pair of stolen headphones. The victim has been released from the hospital and said in an interview on WFIE news that he was held at gunpoint.

Miller said according to those interviewed by his department, no gun was involved.

The children are all between the ages of 12 and 17, Miller said. The name of the adult will be released once charges are filed.

Miller said the Greenville Police Department has a “zero tolerance” policy when it comes to this type of violence. He said when a large group meets with the intent to fight, the department will charge all who are involved.

 The investigation is ongoing.
