Laura Ellen Crunk

Laura Ellen Crunk, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Beaver Dam Nursing Home in Beaver Dam.
Born in Muhlenberg County May 27, 1920, she was a homemaker and a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Roy W. Crunk of Central City; a daughter, Flora Ellen Gooden; six sisters, Elizabeth Nelson, Cora Smith and Nellie Wagoner, all of Louisville, Etta Bell of Madisonville, Edna Gaston of Marion and Mae Brigance of Dunmor; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Camplin officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.



Eula Mae Underwood

GREENVILLE – Eula Mae Underwood, 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Beech Grove March 21, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Charles David Wiggins and Alice Pearl Kerrick Wiggins. She graduated from Beech Grove High School in 1931 and from Owensboro City Hospital as a registered nurse in 1937. She retired from Muhlenberg Community Hospital in 1976 after 35 years as a nurse. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Otis Bryan Underwood Jan. 8, 1996, two sisters, Mary Hardwick and Anita Westerfield, and four brothers, Otis Wiggins, Terrill Wiggins, Franklin Wiggins and Alfred Wiggins.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 11 at Gary's Funeral Home with Dr. Ray England and the Rev. Bob Thurman officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.


Alena Faye Salaiz

SEBREE – Alena Faye Salaiz, 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 23, 1937, she was a machine operator at Gibbs Die Casting. She was a member of Leigh's Chapel General Baptist Church and attended Sebree Mission.
Survivors include her husband, Moe Salaiz; a son, Larry (Penny) Gish of Spring Hill, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Justin Gish, Lee Gish and Amanda Gish; two stepsons, Dan Salaiz of Henderson and Dennis Salaiz of Evansville; a step-granddaughter, Jena Salaiz; four brothers, Sila Hardison of Robards, Dolphous Hardison of Utica and Ernest Hardison and Earon Hardison, both of Greenville; two sisters, Christine Powell of Robards and Joyce Sandefur of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Compton officiating. Burial followed in Union Ridge Cemetery in Belton.


Marilyn W. Burney

OCOEE, FLA. – Marilyn W. Burney, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2006.
She was born in Central City Nov. 25, 1926.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred; two sons, James Burney and Jack Burney; a daughter, Cynthia Gallagher; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Orlando, Fla.


Martha Jane Todd

DRAKESBORO – Martha Jane Todd, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at Maple Manor Health Care in Greenville.
Born in Hopkins County March 17, 1930, she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashley K. Todd.
Survivors include two sons, Rocky Todd and Brad Todd, both of Greenville; a daughter, Cennie Laycock of Central City; her mother, Ethel Coffman of Madisonville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Roy Qualis of Madisonville; four half-sisters, Ursula Bunch, Linda Hibbs, Nancy Young and June Burnes, all of Madisonville; and her companion, Mike Phillips of Drakesboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Mooneyhan officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Wanda Paulette Reeves O'Neal

DAWSON SPRINGS – Wanda Paulette Reeves O'Neal, 49, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville after a sudden illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 11, 1957, she was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship Temple in Madisonville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Pauline Mayes Reeves, a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Parker and a brother, Jimmy Earl Reeves.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, John Ray O'Neal; a daughter, Angel Denise Jones of Greenville; a grandson, Jacob Alexander Braun of Central City; her father, Calvin Ray Reeves of Greenville; a sister, Doris Scott of Greenville; and two brothers, Joe Reeves of Beulah, Ky. and Marion C. "Peanuts" Reeves of Hanson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 14 at Gary's Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Eades officiating. Burial followed in Joines Chapel Cemetery in Clifty.


Donald Clyde Riley

OWENSBORO – Donald Clyde Riley, 64, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at Fordsville Nursing Home in Fordsville.
Born in Jeffersonville, Ind. Aug. 9, 1942, he was disabled.
Survivors include a brother, Samuel Riley of Owenton, Ky.; three nieces; and two nephews.
Funeral services were held at noon Jan. 15 at Tucker Funeral Home with Doris Riley officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Rev. Russell Elwood Carver

ROSEWOOD – The Rev. Russell Elwood Carver, 74, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 11, 1932, he was the son of the late Otis Vetretes Carver and Ethel Elizabeth Cornette Carver. He graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia in 1964 with a Bachelor's degree in theology and was a Methodist pastor for 30 years before retiring. He retired from T.V.A. in 1996 after 15 years as a coal tester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Nell Pentecost in 1996; a son, Trent Wyatt Carver in 1987; two sisters, Audrey Cisney and Christine Miller; and five brothers, Brenton, Thurmond, Carrol Thomas, Doyle Bennett and Bobby Joe Carver.
Survivors include a son, Lanny (Betty) Carver of Olmstead, Ky.; two daughters, Karen (Terry Hearld) Jernigan of Greenville and Phyllis (Kevin) Sparks of Spurgeon, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Jason (Denise) Kirtley, Keith (Michelle) Carver, Amanda (Tommy) Whittemore, Kim (Scott Dortch) Lipe, Angela (Matthew) Mills, Melissa Jernigan and Alec Sparks; 10 great-grandchildren, Trenton, Logan, Lily-Kate, Sage, Josh, Jacob, Peyton, Bryson, Rayleigh and Emmi Grace; three sisters, Thelma Sherrod of Greenville, Marjorie Oates of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Jean Westerfield of Cadiz; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 at Rosewood United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ronnie Young and Steve Latham officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Methodist Cemetery in Rosewood. Gary's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Jerald Stewart

PRINCETON – Jerald Stewart, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007 at Caldwell County Hospital after a long illness.
Born April 16, 1920 he was a retired owner in the grocery business, a member of the V.F.W. and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Stewart of Princeton; a daughter, Jane Ann Olson of Maple Grove, Minn.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Hugh Stewart of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 16 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Jeff French officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northside Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 463, Princeton, KY 42445.


Kenneth Ray Thomasson

GREENVILLE – Kenneth Ray Thomasson, 51, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2007 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 12, 1956, he was self-employed in gas and oil. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Thomasson and a brother, Freddie Thomasson.
Survivors include his wife, Lindy Page Thomasson; a son, Dakota Page of Greenville; his mother, Mattie Maxine Thomasson Barker of Greenville; two brothers, Jerry Thomasson of Greenville and Danny Thomasson of Bremen; and a sister, Terri Crews of Madisonville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 16 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Burial followed in New Life Cemetery in Powderly. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Lindy Thomasson at First Kentucky Bank.


Hazel Becker

MOBILE, ALA. – Hazel Becker, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at Lynnwood Nursing Home.
Although she had been a long time resident of Mobile, she was a member of the Lioness Club, the Country Club and Bridge Club in Central City. She and her husband owned Buddy's Hardware Store in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Becker.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Doug Becker of Hagerstown, Md. and Hank Becker of Mobile; two daughters, Dr. Linda Becker of Boston and Dr. Chandana Becker of Fayetteville, Ark.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Julius Cohen of Ky.; and many friends and relatives.
