Rebecca Kay Burden
    DRAKESBORO – Rebecca Kay Burden, 63, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at her residence in Drakesboro.
    Born in Muhlenberg County March 3, 1943, she was a homemaker and a member of Mud River Union General Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, J.P. Burden; a son, James Eric Burden of Beechmont; a daughter, Jamie Hamby of Mayfield; a brother, Eldon Sumner of Rantoul, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 at Mud River Union General Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Haire officiating. Burial followed in the Mud River Union Cemetery in Belton. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Marilyn Sue Vincent
    BREMEN – Marilyn Sue Vincent, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 7, 1938, she was a homemaker and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen.
    Survivors include her husband, Harold Raymond Stewart; a daughter, Teresa Kay Ford of Bremen; two sons, Rick (Barbara) Stewart and Bryon (Davida) Stewart, both of Bremen; seven grandchildren, Christy (Steve) Bryan, Amanda Summers, Dwayne Noffsinger, Christopher Noffsinger, Patrick Noffsinger, Jeffery (Hanna) Winebarger and Travis Winebarger.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Haire and the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen.


Donald Laverne Snyder
    DRAKESBORO – Donald Laverne Snyder, 77, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at his residence in Drakesboro.
    Born in Butler, Pa. July 2, 1929, he was employed in Quality Control at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y. and was a member of the Presbyterian faith in Brockport, N.Y. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Snyder and a son, Marc Snyder.
    Survivors include a daughter, Elin Smith of Belton; three sons, Michael Snyder of North Charleston, S.C., William Snyder of Seoul, Korea and Stephan Snyder of Albany, N.Y.; four grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis Snyder of Anchorage, Alaska, and Vance Snyder and George Snyder, both of Butler, Pa.; four sisters, Patricia Cousins, Nancy Campbell and Janice Baptiste, all of Butler, Pa., and Linda Murrow of Morgantown, W.V.
    Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 23 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial followed in the Lake Side Cemetery in Brockport, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Harbin Memorial Library or a charity of your choice.


Kenneth Paul Lear

    BREMEN – Kenneth Paul Lear, 57, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at his residence in Bremen.
    Born in Muhlenberg County May 15, 1949, he was employed as a truck driver.
    Survivors include a son, Kenneth Paul Lear, Jr. of Central City; six daughters, Polly Lear of Elkton, Mackenzie Lear, Aquaya Lear and Vera Lear, all of Bremen, Felicia Smith and Mary Lou DeArmond, both of Central City; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Lear of Cleaton; three sisters, Barbara Whitney and Sue Gregory, both of Central City and Lula Bell Lear of Missouri.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 22 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Long officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro.


Louisa M. Petrie
    CLIFTY – Louisa M. Petrie, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at her residence in Clifty.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Elijah and Ruth Gregory McPherson. She was retired from the Todd County Board of Education where she was the Director of Pupil Personnel.
    Survivors include her husband, Frank Petrie of Clifty; two sons, Randal Petrie of Cookeville, Tenn. and Gayle Petrie of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Sherry Petrie of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two sisters, Bonnie Bouland and Kata Wilson, both of Greenville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 23 at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with Bro. Joe Dunn and Randal Petrie officiating. Burial followed in the Heltsley Cemetery.


Wilma Jean Bethel Knight
    POWDERLY – Wilma Jean Bethel Knight, 75, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at her residence after several months illness.
    Born in Luzerne Dec. 10, 1931, she was the daughter of Sam Bethel and Lilliam Virginia McDonald Bethel. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church in Greenville.
    Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Warren Knight; three sisters, Judith Aebersold and Ernestine (J.T.) Yonts, both of Louisville and Dianne (Bob) Crick of Greenville; two step-sisters, Daisy Nell Rice and Joyce Ann Corneal, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Nebo Cemetery in Nebo.


Mary Arnold
    Mary Arnold, 87, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born in Union County Oct. 22, 1919, she was a retired Avon representative and a member of First United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include two grandchildren; two nephews and three nieces.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Edward Eugene Shanks
    ELIZABETHTON, TENN. – Edward Eugene Shanks, 81, formerly of Sacramento, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at his residence.
    Born in Muhlenberg County April 9, 1925, he was employed at Whirlpool. He was a machinist, a farmer and a Navy veteran. He was a member of Neal’s Chapel General Baptist Church in Bremen.
    Survivors include his wife, Maxine Ellis Shanks; a daughter, Darrie Shanks Greenwell of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Regina Greenwell; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Milsaps; a step-great-grandson, Joshua Milsaps; and a sister, Elizabeth Green of Sacramento.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at Tucker Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Haire and the Rev. Brian Haire officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen.


Jeraldine Bruce
    Jeraldine Bruce, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Ala.
    Born in Jasper, Ala., Nov. 19, 1918, she was a retired sales clerk and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Jasper. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.H. Bruce; a daughter, Neeta Anderson and a grandson, Timothy Anderson.
    Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Gail Crowder of Lake City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Keith Anderson, Vicki Nichols, Bruce Crowder and Kelly Seay; a brother, Paul Wayne Batsel of Central City; two sisters, Susie Dossett of Sacramento and Mary Lynn Thurman of Elizabethtown.
    Funeral services will be held at noon Dec. 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Oliver “Sonny” Noffsinger
    Oliver “Sonny” Noffsinger, 71, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at his residence in Central City.
    Born in Chicago, Ill., July 2, 1935, he was employed by TVA as a shift engineer and was a member of Central City First Baptist Church.
    Survivors include two sons, Mickey (Tawee) Noffsinger of Central City and Bart (Martha) Noffsinger of Carrollton, Ky.; two daughters, Regina Noffsinger of Central City and Leea (Charles) Gaither of Henderson; six grandchildren, Marvin Noffsinger, Tracy Noffsinger, Jason Noffsinger, Sue Ann Dukes, Jennifer Groves and Victoria Gaither; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Noffsinger and Kaitlyn Dukes; and a sister, Luwana Taylor of Central City.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Bob Lowery and the Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


Anna Elizabeth “Beth” Vincent

    Anna Elizabeth “Beth” Vincent, 90, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006.
    Born in Muhlenberg County July 11, 1916, she was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen.
    Survivors include a sister, Mary Lucy Kerstetter of Eddyville; a niece, Judy C. Conway; and a half-brother, Wayne Fowler of Greenville.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 26 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Bremen.


Lyndell “Eddie” Reed

    Lyndell “ Eddie” Reed, 67, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at his home in Central City.
    Born June 1, 1939, he was the son of the late Charlie and Valeria Vincent Reed. He graduated from Central City High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Central City First Baptist Church and retired from the IC Railroad in 2002. He enjoyed his lake and his friends.
    Survivors include three sisters, Norma (Ed) Morris of Wyandotte, Mich., Juanita (Randall) Vaughn of Greenville and June (Mike) O’Neill of Central City; a brother Carroll Wayne (Brenda) Reed of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 26 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.


J.W. Sadler
    HOPKINSVILLE – J.W. Sadler, 84, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 as the result of injuries suffered in an accident.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 15, 1922, he was the son of the late Henry Smith and Brittie Wagoner Sadler. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army WW II veteran and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Helen Mae Rice Sadler; a son, Ronnie L. Sadler of Clarksville, Tenn.; two daughters, Angelin Sweeney of Greenville and Eva Combs of Hopkinsville; four grandchildren and four-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 23 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with the Rev. Will Stone and the Rev. Billy Thompson officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Pleasant View Baptist Church fellowship hall, 102 Jones Circle, Elkton, KY  42220.


William Earl “Mutt” “Possum” Majors

    POWDERLY – William Earl “Mutt” “Possum” Majors, 71, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at his residence after a long battle with lung cancer.
    Born in Morgans, Ky., Sept. 13, 1935, he was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Majors and three brothers, Charles Majors, Clifford Majors and Bobbie Majors and a son, Richard A. Ignas, Jr.
    Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Barbara M. Majors; three sons, Larry W. (Altie) Majors of Nonnell, Ky., Wally Ignas of Powderly and Timothy (Pong) Ignas of Radcliff, Ky.; four daughters, Janet Barnes of Dawson Springs, Anne Ignas of Marion, Kathy Roe of Lowell, Ind. and Joan (Jimmy) Crick of Bardstown; his mother, Virginia Mae Majors of Greenville; five brothers, Harold (Susan) Majors and Freddy Majors, both of Greenville, Billy (Pirvie) Majors of Allegra, Ky., Larry G. (Lois) Majors of Rochester and Peewee (Penny) Majors of Powderly; three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Majors and Brenda Majors, both of Powderly and Betty Sue Majors of Livermore; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Majors, Samantha Majors, Rachael, Valerie, Billy, Stephanie, Brian, Brandon, Vanessa, Brian and Kristin; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Hocker officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.


Dorothy Faye Harrison

    Dorothy Faye Harrison, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro.
    Born in Dyers County, Tenn., Dec. 25, 1941, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
    Survivors include her husband, L.E. Harrison; two sons, Timothy Harrison of Greenville and Anthony Harrison of Central City; four daughters, Carolyn Phelps of Morgantown, Dorcas Evans of Hillsboro, Ohio, Katrena Thomason of Drakesboro and Amanda Mefford of Central City; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Homer Ables of Lake Station, Ind. and Larry Ables of Dyers, Tenn.; and a sister, Clara Mae Sawyer of Friendship, Tenn.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 28 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 27 at Tucker Funeral Home.


Betty L. Nofsinger
    Betty L. Nofsinger, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
    Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 17, 1930, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and an avid Muhlenberg South Boys Basketball fan. She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Ashley.
    Survivors include her husband, Bobby W. Nofsinger; a son, Terry (Christy) Nofsinger of Greenville; a daughter, Doris (Durward) Thomas of Central City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy LaMastus of Dayton, Ohio; and a sister, Bobbie Carr of Dayton, Ohio.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Brown and the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
