GREENVILLE — The former prosecutor in the Corinna Mullen murder case 19 years ago will not preside over the new trial as judge.
Circuit Judge David Jernigan has excused himself from the case and asked for a special judge to be appointed.
Jernigan, who is circuit court judge in McLean and Muhlenberg counties, was commonwealth’s attorney when Mullen’s former boyfriend, Jimmy Springer, was charged for her murder shortly after her death in 1987.
