James Henry Hornsby
POWDERLY – James Henry Hornsby, 68, died
Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System
in Owensboro after a sudden illness.
Born in Newport News, Va. Feb. 7, 1938,
he was the son of the late Percy James Hornsby and Amy Bell
Quisenberry Hornsby. He retired from the Greenville Utilities
Commission as a water plant operator after 30 years. He was
a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam and
was a member of Willow Glen Church of Christ in Powderly.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Burden and
two brothers, Elmer Hornsby and Leslie Hornsby.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years,
Mary Anna Sasade Hornsby; a son, James Stephen Hornsby of
Masonville; three daughters, Carolyn Ann Boyd of Owensboro,
Shelia Jean Crouch of Greenville and Patricia Gail Forshee
of Central City; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan.
16 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Jimmy Jenkins officiating.
Private burial was held at Memorial Garden Cemetery.

in 1949 and earned a B.A.
in 1953 and a M.A. in
1964 from Western Kentucky
University. He served
as a commissioned officer
in the United States Army
from 1953-1958 and taught
school at Drakesboro and
Hughes-Kirk schools. He
retired after 19 years
with the Commonwealth
of Kentucky’s Department
of Probation and Parole.
