• Class schedules for the 2007-08 school year for Muhlenberg North High School will be ready according to the following schedule: sophomores and juniors-schedules will be mailed by July 24 and changes may be made at the school July 30; seniors with last names beginning with the letters A-L will meet with counselors between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. July 24 and M-Z, July 26; freshmen with last names beginning with the letters A-L will meet with counselors at 9 a.m. July 27 and M-Z at 1 p.m. July 27. Freshmen plan to spend approximately an hour in orientation. Changes to schedules should be completed by the first day of school. New students or those who have not registered, should bring a transcript, birth certificate and updated immunization certificate to the school between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. July 31.

• ALANON Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday at the rear entrance of the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Greenville for loved ones or family members of alcoholics. AA meetings are at 7:30 p.m. This is confidential and free of charge.

• The Bremen class of 1977 will have their 30-year class reunion at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Purple Onion in Central City. Those who wish to attend RSVP to Shelia Lee at 338-7887, Sherri Bryant at 754-5309 or Alice Gunn at 338-6591.

• The Central City High School class of 1957 is planning their 50th class reunion for Aug. 25. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of any classmates or schoolmates from 1954-1957 are urged to contact Ted Curtis at 270-754-1938.

• The Graham High School Class of 1987 will hold their 20th reunion Sept. 15 at The Purple Onion. Social hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. Information has been mailed. Call Tracy Wright Hocker at 543-1407 or Paula Hanson Atkins at 543-6639 with questions.

• The First United Methodist Church in Central City welcomes all women to "The Esther Experience" October 19-20. The event is a retreat for women based on the book of Esther, directed by Patricia Wade from the Billy Graham Center. The registration fee is $35 and forms are available at the church or by phoning the church office at 754-2770.

• Seventh and eighth-graders may pick up schedules from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and sixth-graders may pick up schedules from 4 to 6 p.m. July 26 at the Muhlenberg South Middle School open house.

• The William Henry Harrison Mallory family reunion will be held Aug. 11 in the Penrod Baptist Church fellowship hall with a potluck lunch at 12:30 p.m. Immediate and extended Mallory families are welcome to attend. • Every two years, the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture showcases the latest research and extension work conducted on its farm in western Kentucky as well as throughout the college. This year’s event is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 26 at the Research and Education Center on Kentucky 91 South, 1.5 miles southeast of the Caldwell County Courthouse in Princeton. • The Mohon family and friends reunion will be held July 27-28 at the Soil Conservation Club at Lake Malone State Park in Dunmor. • Muhlenberg South High School students should receive their schedules in the mail the week of July 23. If there are changes that need to be made, come by the school beginning July 30.

• The second annual Muhlenberg County Youth Explosion will be at 4:30 p.m. July 28 at the Graham Tabernacle in Graham. This is a night dedicated to the Lord by the youth. Nathan Crump will be the guest speaker and Out-Cry will be doing the praise and worship. This is a non-denominational service. Everyone is welcome.

• Fruit Hill Baptist Church will sponsor Dave Ramsey's 13-week "Financial Peace University" from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 19 at the church. • Hope King, Field Representative for the Ky. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, will be at the National Guard Armory in Central City from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 14. Veterans and their families will be provided counseling and assistance in filing claims for state and federal benefits. This is a free service provided by the state. • Relatives and descendants of James Elmer and Nellie Bly Powell Lack will hold their 22nd family reunion July 29 at the Martin Home Place on C. Martin Lane in Allegre. A potluck lunch will served around noon. • A dedication service for new windows and sound room will be held at 11 a.m. July 29 at Freedom General Baptist Church, 1545 Luzerne Depoy Road in Greenville. A dinner will be held after the service with special singing at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call the Rev. • ACE2-Muhlenberg Adult Education announces that the next dates for GED testing in Muhlenberg County will be Aug. 2-3. Participants must be enrolled and registered prior to test dates. • The Copper Creek Cancer Fighters Relay for Life team will have a cookout from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4 in front of the Kroger store. There will be chicken strips and fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and cold drinks. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

• Greenville Elementary School will have its Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. July 30.

• There will be an auction/karaoke benefit for Tari Walker July 28 at the Family Inn Restaurant in Greenville. The auction will be at 3 p.m. and karaoke will begin at 6 p.m. Walker was recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, leaving her unable to work.

• Mended Hearts, Cardiac Rehab, will meet at 5 p.m. July 26 at the Catfish House.

• The Suns Youth Service Center Advisory Council meeting will be at 4 p.m. July 31 at the Muhlenberg South High School library.

• Fiscal Court will meet at 6 p.m. July 31 in the Fiscal Courtroom.

• National Alliance on Mental Illness, a support group for family and friends of people with a mental illness, will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Fowler Building, 254 E. Center St. in Madisonville. For more information, call Tom Mills at 270-821-3670.

• Bremen City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the City Building.

• Central City City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the City Building.

• The Muhlenberg County Conservation District board of supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 in the NRCS office, 340 Dean Rd., Suite 3 in Greenville. Everyone is welcome to attend.
